About The Author

Kakwenza Rukirabashaija is a Ugandan writer and satirist whose work has often placed him in direct conflict with authority. Trained as a lawyer, he turned to writing as a way to question power, expose abuse, and speak about realities that are frequently ignored or suppressed. His satire, in particular, has made him both widely read and closely watched.
His arrest, detention, and subsequent trial marked a defining moment in his life and writing. Rather than stepping away, Kakwenza chose to confront that experience directly, using literature to record what he had witnessed from inside the legal system. The courtroom play grew from this decision, shaped by the language, pressure, and imbalance he encountered firsthand.

Kakwenza writes with control and purpose, avoiding exaggeration in favour of clarity. His work does not
seek sympathy, but attention. Through careful observation and restraint, he continues to document how
power operates, and what it costs to speak when silence is expected.
